Blood tests for your pet
We offer in house blood testing with our IDEXX Pro-cyte Dx and Catalyst One units. These enable us to perform a range of test with results generally available within minutes.
- Complete blood counts
- Full range of biochemistry testing from pre-anaesthetic blood checks to full health profiles for sick animals
- Electrolytes
- Thyroid hormone
More specialised blood testing can be performed by an external laboratory with results often available within 24 hours.
Cytology
We have a high resolution microscope which allows us to assess cytology samples including ear swabs, fine needle aspirates of masses, skin cytology, faecal smears and fluid samples. More complicated cases may require that samples be sent to an external pathologist for interpretation.
Urinalysis
We utilise a refractometer, urine dipsticks, microscopic analysis and our high speed centrifuge to help us assess urinary tract issues. Samples may be sent to an external laboratory for culture and sensitivity in the case of persistent infections.
